The Institute of Indigenous Australia honour our present elders and revere our past ancestors who paved the way for a brighter future for First Nation People. We pay homage to those Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who challenged the status quo and fought for a more inclusive Australia. A better Australia. We also acknowledge our Country and specifically the land in which our headquarters is based - Inala, Brisbane. Inala is an Aboriginal word deriving from the Jagera, Yuggera and Ugarapul Clans meaning "Place of Peace” - which we feel is a fitting description that incorporates the intent of our vision for a peaceful and prosperous Indigenous Australia.
